KATHARINE WADE

Two months in National Maritime Museum

I got a job. It was from the start of July to the end of August. It was in the many galleries and courts of the National Maritime Museum as part of Royal Museum’s Greenwich.

I produced a single zine, and edition of 1, inspired by the museum objects and works of art that accompanied me during my solo invigilation of their different gallery spaces. You would be positioned in a regular spot in one of their exhibits, be it ‘Tudor and Steward Seafarers’ or ‘Pacific Encounters’ or perhaps ‘Nelson, Navy, Nation’ or even the children’s gallery ‘All Hands’. These objects kept me company and each quick ball pen interpretation of them is my way of leaving my mark on a place that will soon forget me.

The zine was left in the mess hall, pinned on the notice board near where people have their breakfast, lunch and dinner, its future unknown.
